I feel like I am on the way toward becoming the person I want to be. I want to be someone who is willing to help people all the time and make others’ lives better. I want to have an importance on people’s’ lives, and be someone people can count on. This includes in my family, friend group, and profession. This is part of the reason why I want to be a pediatrician when I am older. Going into the field of healthcare is a major commitment, but right now it is what I think I want to do. Being a pediatrician would allow me to help children and their families every single day. I think that I am slowly on my way toward becoming someone who helps people and makes a difference every day.

The day before Thanksgiving, I had my wisdom teeth taken out. I woke up early in the morning, got in the car with my mom, and drove to UnityPoint in Fort Dodge. I walked into the hospital where I was lead to my room. The nurses hooked me up to the IV and gave me anesthesia. When I woke up, it was very hard to see straight, as the room and the things in it were spinning. I also couldn’t talk correctly, as my thoughts were jumbled. After a long time of sitting and trying to recuperate myself, I was eventually allowed to leave and go home. This event is very memorable to me, as it was one of the most unique experiences of my life. It was also the day before Thanksgiving, a very unfortunate time. I had to eat ice cream and mashed potatoes for three days straight. Eating solid foods would have the risk of me ripping my stitches out.

The Nike KD 11 is the basketball shoe that I chose to wear for the 2018-2019 basketball season. I specifically chose the “Multicolor” colorway of the model. Before deciding upon the KD 11, I tried on the shoe to make sure it would perform well. My three criteria I used in judging the shoe were fit, traction, and appearance. The fit of the shoe is true to size, and provides good lockdown for my foot while playing. The traction of the shoe started out a little shaky, but got better throughout the season. The appearance of the shoe is very appealing, and there are multiple colorways that I enjoy.

SoleCollector.com did their own review of the Nike KD 11. In their review, their criteria were fit, ankle support, cushioning, and traction. I agree that these are very good criteria for a basketball shoe. I would combine ankle support and fit. They used logos the more, citing exact details about the shoe. I do not agree with their review of the sneaker.

It may seem ridiculous to some, but only buying products from a certain brand is very common among many people, including myself. There are several things that I consistently only purchase from one brand or company. One of these things is Nike socks. I am not against other brands, but I constantly find myself always sticking to Nike, possibly due to the style and comfort. Another company I always like to stick to is A&E chocolate milk. I have tried multiple different companies, and A&E is by far the best. When buying shoes to wear for comfort, I have found that Adidas is the best. The Boost technology is extremely comfortable and I have not worn anything more comfortable. The final brand I always buy is Nike basketball shoes. The traction, fit, and comfort are all the best of any brand I have tried.

Persuasive writing is a way to try to convince someone to believe you. To make a good persuasive essay, it is a good idea to use these things called ethos, pathos, and logos. Ethos is how you convince someone you know what you are talking about. Pathos is using emotions to convince people, like those sad puppy commercials. Logos is using facts you find to prove that your point is right.

I found it difficult to explain the use of ethos in simple terms. I found it confusing to try and re-write it. I am not sure how to put this confusion into a question.

Using an organization method, such as the Toulmin Method, is necessary in creating an effective argument. The Toulmin Method is efficient due to its characteristics of analyzing both sides of an argument. This is very important in creating a strong case for one side of an argument.

My topic for my persuasive essay is the issue of felon voting. It is my current belief that even though they committed a felony n the past, as long as they completed their punishment and have returned as a productive, helpful member of society, they should be allowed to vote, as everyone else is able to. I think my audience will be mostly on the fence, as it is a topic not often talked about. I belief a strong use of pathos and ethos will help me convince my audience to try and agree with my stance on the topic. Pathos will be used from a fairness standpoint, and it will try to convince the readers to understand why voting is so important.

It is wise, and in my opinion almost necessary, to spend time and money toward developing a space station, and eventually colonies, on Mars. The establishment of human life on Mars may become crucial due to the overexertion of natural resources, the alarmingly changing climate, and the possibility of a nuclear fallout. The human race is burning through natural resources at an exponential rate, and unless a major change in the use of natural resources is quickly brought into effect, there will quickly become immense shortages in crucial natural resources. One discussed solution to this problem is the development and establishment of colonies on either the Moon or on Mars. I believe a colony on Mars would be more realistic and efficient, as the existence of organic molecules have been found on Mars, as well as the possibility of water underneath the surface. Another possible reason for the sending of humans to Mars would be the potentially fatal changes in the world climate. If we as a global population are unable to reverse or lessen the effects of the changes to the climate, the world may become inhabitable. The last, and possibly of least probability of events that would lead to an outer-space colony, would be the results of a nuclear war. In today’s world, with multiple countries having the power of nuclear weapons, a nuclear war would obliterate the Earth’s environmental systems and weather patterns. This would have catastrophic effects upon the people of Earth. In order to establish a place on Mars for part of the human population, a lot of time, effort, money, and collaboration will be needed. Best case scenario, no one ends up having to live on Mars due to catastrophic events, but it may be in the best interest of governments across the globe to begin investing and working on these space stations.

Driving safety is a major problem in the United States, especially among teenagers. It is very common for teenagers to be involved in multiple extracurricular activities both before and after school. Due to this, it is not unlikely for a student to spend upward of 10 hours at school every day. The student then has to drive home, shower, eat, do homework for multiple classes, and then try to find time to sleep before having to wake up early in the morning to go back to school and do the same thing the next day. This results in a form of distracted driving known as Sleep-Deprived Driving, or Drowsy Driving. One solution to help with this problem would be to have schools start at a later time. This would enable teenagers to get more sleep each night, likely reducing the problem of Drowsy Driving among teens, making driving a little safer for everyone on the road.

If I was trapped in an elevator for 45 seconds with President Trump, I would try to convince him to put more effort into stopping human-created climate change. Climates across the world are greatly changing, and have been since the 1950s. For the first time in history this change has been brought on by the human race. This is a major problem, and the latest studies show that we have about 20 years to make significant changes to our ways of living, or else the damage may be irreversible. If we don’t seriously begin changing our emissions and ways of pollution, our time on this planet may be up sooner rather than later. The first step toward getting this to happen is to make people believe in climate change and realize a change is needed. The greatest counter argument against climate change is that the climate goes through cycles, which in a way it does. This, however, is not a cycle. This is a period of heightened extreme conditions unlike any others recorded, and humans are the reason for this. So if I were to try to convince President Trump to make an impact, I would strongly push for him to make deals to greatly lessen emissions that are harmful to the atmosphere, not just in America, but to make deals with other countries as well. No one country can do this alone, and I hope the President of the United States of America, the most influential country in the world, would recognize this.

The sport of cross country is full of unique and interesting facts. For example, at 100 years old, Fauja Singh was the oldest person to ever run a marathon. Another amazing fact is that South African runner Zola Bud won two IAAF World Cross Country titles while running barefoot. The last fact I am going to grace you with being able to know, is that at four years old, Budhia Singh is the youngest marathon runner, as he has completed 48 marathons before his fifth birthday.
